Sunday in Costa Rica was such an amazing experience. We got to visit one of the local churches and were literally welcomed with open arms. The Costa Rican people are so incredibly friendly and they make you feel like family. This is especially welcome for those of us who have never left the United States and are slowly hitting the culture shock.
Pastor Danny spoke on being a committed follower of Christ and Cindy led us in worship. The faces that we saw as we looked around may have been unfamiliar, but the love for Jesus is a value we shared. We may not understand all the words of the prayers and sermons, but the Holy Spirit was thick in the room. It gave us a little glimpse as to what heaven would be like as we all praised him with one voice in different languages.
That night we were invited to the missionaries meeting where Pastor Darrel spoke to those serving in Costa Rica about his work with Give Clean Water. The children of the missionaries worked with our team. We focused on 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 which talks about how Jesus is the light and that we are nothing without him. We used the story of stained glass and how the artist takes the broken pieces which are nothing on their own and creates a masterpiece that can only be seen when the light shines through it. The children then made their very own stained glass cross to remember that God can use every piece of us for his glory if we allow him to shine through us.

"Remember, our Message is not about ourselves; we’re proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus for you. It started when God said, “Light up the darkness!” and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful.”
